Last Day of School

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Wednesday, June 08, 2011 0 stamps of approval
Oh, where did the year go??  Tomorrow is Emily's last day of Kindergarten and then I will officially be the parent of a 1st Grader!  Wow!!  She has grown up so fast!
(I know I'll be totally blown away when my preschooler enters 1st grade in a few years!!)

Emily wanted to make a special shirt to wear to school on her last day, so she and I made this today...

And, I have been working on a small project for her teacher for about a week now - takes a long time for these bottlecap magnets to dry!

I'm sure her teacher will be able to use some cute little apple magnets!

I've seen so many good ideas for Teacher Gifts while browsing the blogosphere, but as always, time got away from me and this is all that I got done!  Maybe next year...

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Crafting!

Our Princess at NAM

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Monday, September 06, 2010 0 stamps of approval

I was gone this weekend at the National American Miss pageant with my daughter Emily, 5 years old.  She did amazingly well - finishing in the Top 10 Semi-Finalists out of 41 Princess-Aged (4-7) girls in the WHOLE state! Out of 41 girls, my little girl made Top 10!!  She didn't make the Top 5 Royal Court, but she did so well for her very first year, and first ever public appearance!
Imagine being 5 years old and walking on stage with a microphone to announce your name, age, city and ambition to 1,000 strangers and 10 judges??
Imagine being 5 years old and doing 10 one-on-one interviews with judges?
Imagine learning a dance routine in 30 minutes with 40 other little girls and then being asked to perform it in front of 1000 audience members within the next hour?
I know I couldn't do any of that, but SHE did!!  She is incredible! She came home with 3 trophies and a rose presented to her by the 2009 Princess for making the Semi-Finals - she was thrilled and we are so proud!

Here she is with one of the trophies she won - the Spirt Of America Trophy - in her Interview Outfit
Here she is with Daddy, her Formal Wear Escort and little brother, in her Formal Wear Outfit
Emily LOVED Jade, the 2009 WA State Princess
In her production outfit, ready to dance!
And, this is the outfit she wore for the optional Casual Wear Modeling contest - she didn't place in this contest, but we hadn't rehearsed anything, because I didn't know what to expect.  She looked so cute, though!

Thanks for letting me share - we are so so so very proud of her!

KID post!

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Wednesday, July 07, 2010 2 stamps of approval
I just wanted to share this adorable project that my kids did yesterday at Day Camp!

It's "Lost in Space" week, so they're learning about plantets and aliens and stuff... they made these super cute flying saucers - they just love them!  Emily actually slept with hers in bed with her last night!  And they're oh-so-simple to make!  I actually hung around and helped "teacher" with Emily and Bradley's because they looked like so much fun!

So here, they are... Bradley with his 3-eyed Green Alien and our friend, daycamp teacher and Bradley's soon-to-be preschol teacher, Miss Jonnelle.  Doesn't he look so happy??  Such a silly boy!
And here's Emily's Silver and Gold 1-eyed alien flying saucer.. (she's getting to that "hurry up and take the picture, Mom" age...)
...that landed on her Lincoln Log house... Alien Attack!!!
Ok, so she doesn't see the humor in my alien attack... oh well :)

Happy Birthday, Sweet Emily

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Monday, January 18, 2010 2 stamps of approval
It's Emily's 5th Birthday today.. So smart, so independent and so very, very stubborn!  But also, so very sweet - here's a photo of her at 2 days old:

Wow.... I remember her 1st birthday like it was yesterday.....

She was so sweet and little!

Here's her 2nd Birthday:

Just makes me smile :)

Her 3rd Birthday:

Can't keep her fingers out of the cake!  My Mom made this cake - it was beautiful!

Her 4th Birthday:

She had a Hannah Montana party - with a {gasp} store-bought cake

And... today - I can't believe she's 5 years old!!

She's such a fashion Diva!

This year, I baked and decorated her cake myself - not bad for a first go... I guess all those years of sitting at the dining room table watching my Mom decorate cakes paid off!  I need more practice, of course, but it sure was fun to make this one!

Happy Birthday, Sweet Emily - you're growing up too fast!
We Love You!

Emily's Just Gorjuss!

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Saturday, January 09, 2010 5 stamps of approval
Only one week after Bradley turns 2, Emily turns 5... wow, she's growing up so fast!  And she's so smart!  Anyway, I hope she likes this card that I made for her.. the Gorjuss Girls have always made me think of her.  I'm entering this one in this weeks Totally Gorjuss challenge, which is a sketch.

I used Pink Pirouette cardstock, with patterned paper by Imaginesce.  I sewed the ribbon on and added a #5 eyelet charm for her 5th birthday.  I spelled her name out with metal charms, I thought she'd like that, as she loves to write her name!  I colored the Gorjuss Girl with my Copics in Emily's favorite color, PINK and brought in the red for the hearts.  I used a red Glaze pen for all those hearts and a black glaze pen to give her boots the patent leather look.  Oval Nesties for the shape, of course!

I was a little loose with the sketch... but I think you can still see it in there:

Thanks for stopping by!

Just some fun shots from this evening.
Everyone had a special cookie to enjoy after dinner...
But I think Bradley enjoyed his the MOST!
He had cream in his hair!
Needless to say, tonight became an unscheduled Bath Night!
Enjoy!

Emily's adventure...

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 3 stamps of approval
I wish I had a picture to go with this story, but I just have to share this with you!

Monday was a school day for Miss Emily, but Mommy was feeling horrible with the flu and couldn't muster up the energy to drive her there, so we stayed home.

Later in the afternoon, Emily said that she really wanted to go to school and see her friends. I explained that I didn't feel good and couldn't drive her there. So, she quietly got up and went to her room. She came out a few minutes later fully dressed, shoes on and backpack ready. She said, "That's OK, Mommy, I'll go without you!" I was so tired and ill that I just nodded and said "Ok, Emily, I'll miss you!" She says, "I'll miss you, too" as she goes through the door to the garage.

I'm thinking, no worries, she can't reach the button to open the garage door... just as I hear the garage door go UP! Ummm... adrenaline is a wonderful thing... I jump up and run to the garage to find Emily IN my car, IN the driver's seat... ready to go! She had pushed the button on the garage door remote!

I open the car door, trying not to fall over laughing and tell her she needs to come back inside and she says "But, Mommy, I can go to school without you! I'm a Good Driver!"

Oh, Emily... sometimes you're just too smart and too cute!

My sweet little girl is growing up...

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Friday, March 13, 2009 2 stamps of approval
Emily wanted a blog. Yes, my 4-year old wanted a blog! She came up to me, out of the blue, and said, "Mommy, I want a blog!" Who am I to deny the creative mind of a 4-year old? Not like I don't have enough blogs to keep track of, right? Well, Emily has a blog and I invite You!, my friends to go check it out! Remember, though.. when reading the blog of a 4-year old.. you must think like a 4-year old! All I do is type. She talks and I type what she says, so it may not make sense, most of the time it doesn't, but it's still fun to hear what goes on in her head! And, now, everytime I snap a picture of her, she says she wants to put it on her blog! So, go check it out, if you need your preschool fix today!
And leave her comments - she loves comments!
It's A Rainbow World!

The Greeting Farm and Club Anya are having a challenge just for kids! So, of course, Emily had to make a card for the challenge! I showed her the 2 stamps that I have from TGF - Rockstar Anya and Happy Chef Ian - and she immediately picked Anya, "Because she's a GIRL, Mommy!" So, we stamped Rockstar Anya and Emily set to coloring her Just Right! Then she picked out some patterned paper, some ribbon and some flowers and put it all together! She had so much fun making this card - I hope that I can find more kid challenges for her to play in! Here are some photos of her making her card, and her final creation! Way to go, Emily!
If she happens to win the Club Anya challenge, she gets to choose a TGF stamp for her very own! (Although, I hope she'll share it with me!!)
