Welcome 2010

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Thursday, December 31, 2009 0 stamps of approval

Just a (new) little project..

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Thursday, December 31, 2009 3 stamps of approval
I've been working on these all month, and now that all the gifts have been opened (or most of them, at least!)  I can share them with everyone!  These are fun and different from what I usually do!  See, my Mom and Dad bought me a sewing machine for Christmas years (and years and years) ago and it has seen very little use!  This past year, I did get it out and start using it on cards... yes, sewing paper, not fabric.  Finally, I found a project that I liked, that looked simple enough, that was useful and I could share with friends and family.  So, I started making.....

Coffee Cozzees!

So, here are a few that I made, unfortunately I didn't get photos of them all, as they were getting wrapped up and given away almost as soon as they came off the sewing machine!

This last one, I added a touch of "bling" with this fancy, sparkly button that I found that matched the green fabric perfectly!  I LOVE it... (yes, this is MY Coffee Cozzee!)

I've been having fun with these, and I just bought a bunch of new fabric to make lots more!!  I know my Mom and Dad both want one, so I need to get those done!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you like my new little "obsession"!  Good thing there aren't many fabric stores in the area!!!

SSC - Snowtacular!

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, December 27, 2009 1 stamps of approval
Whew!  What a busy week!  I would like to wish all of my friends a Very Merry Christmas (belated, I know!)  I hope that you had a wonderful time and that Santa brought you all your heart wished for!  I know that everyone in my house was good this year, because we all got spoiled!

I also hope we all remember the reason for the season and that you were able to spend time with your loved ones.

Onto challenges and prizes!

Our Stamptacular Sunday challenge this week is SNOW-tacular!  Card, scrapbook page, box, gift, tag - whatever you create, as long as it's got snow on it, we want to see it!  The prize up for grabs is:
Sponsor: Card Art

Prize:

site address: http://www.card-art.nl/

Pretty cool, huh?  Psst... those are Daisy Bucket stamps in there - I LOVE Daisy Bucket!!

My card for the challenge was quick, as it really has been quite busy around here with wrapping presents, Christmas Dinner, shopping, family, and other fun stuff!
I love my cute ice skating snowman and to make it even more chilly and shimmery and SNOW-tacular, I used lots and lots of glittered paper (from DCWV)  I was able to use a few scraps that I had as the side borders, too!  LOVE that!  Every layer of paper glitters and I even colored the snowman with glitter pens!

We don't have any snow here this year, which is unusual.  So I will live through my fellow DT members SNOW-tacular cards and, of course, YOURS as well!  Can't wait to hop to your blog and see what you create!

Have a wonderful week!  See you again soon!

Oops, I missed it again!

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, December 20, 2009 1 stamps of approval

Is it Sunday already??? Wow... It's been such a busy week getting ready for Christmas and visitors and the garage door breaking and on and on and on... I did spend some time in my craft room this week, but I was busily making Christmas gifts - sewing, not stamping (amazing, huh?  I know!!)  Soooo... long story short, I missed the Stamptacular challenge!  I'm going to spend the day sitting in the corner with my Dunce cap on, but I'm going to take my stamps to the corner with me, so I can hopefully get a card up here to share with you... even if it is late!  I'm sooooo sorry!

But, you can visit Sarah, Piali, Georgia, Carolyn, Aud Kirsten, Priscilla, Nikki, Liza, Line, Janneke and Paula to see some AMAZING creations!  I have to say the girls outdid themselves this week!

Your challenge this week, should you choose to accept it (and I KNOW you will!) is to create a project that uses multiple folds!  2 to 20, it's up to you, just as long as there is more than 1 fold!  This is a fun one!
Your prize is a gift from:
The prize is plus FREE shipping!
If that isn't incentive enough for you, I don't know what is!  :)

So, get stampin', have some fun and I can't wait to see what you create!  I'll be back to post something that I create soon.....

Until then -

Stamptacular - Christmas with a Twist!

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, December 13, 2009 1 stamps of approval
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... around here at least!  We finally got our tree set up yesterday!  It looks perfect!  Emily helped us decorate it, so all the ornaments are on the bottom half of the tree and it looks wonderful!  :)  Also, we got our first snow yesterday (very late, compared to last year!) so, it looks like it might be white for a while!

Speaking of Christmas, our challenge this week at Stamptacular is to create a Christmas card or project, sounds pretty easy, right?  Well... the Twist is to not use Red or Green!

Our prizes this week are:

The prize is
A Chocolate Covered Christmas Downloadable Kit
AND
The prize is
ONE template of Winner’s Choice
WooHoo!  2 prizes this week!  Be sure to enter for your chance to win!  Remember to Stamp, Stamp, Stamp, no matter what you make and if you want to win a wonderful prize, your entry must be created for our challenge only.

My project this week is an altered paint can gift box.  I'm thinking of filling it with cookies to give to our neighbors for Christmas this year.
I've used DCWV Glitter cardstock, and cut the shapes with my Nesties.  I colored the image with my Copics and Sakura glitter pens.  I added a big white ribbon and used a Believe rub-on on the front of the can.  I hope you like it!  Now, I just need to decide what flavor of cookies to fill it with... any suggestions?

I hope you have a wonderful week!  I can't wait to visit your blog and see your Twisted Christmas creations!  :)  Take care and Have Fun!

The prize is

For some sparkly inspiration, be sure to visit each of the design team members - we've got Bling and we know how to use it!  :)

My card is all about the shimmer.  I've used my very favorite paper from the PaperZone in Bellevue, WA.  I've embossed my image in gold embossing powder (three times!! cut it out twice and layered it to give it depth), added some gold brads and gold glitter.  Hubby says it's a little over the top shiny, but isn't that what the challenge is all about?  I had a hard time taking a photo, as the flash kept reflecting back at me, but that just shows how sparkly it really is!  I wish you could see this card in person, it's so pretty!

I hope you have fun with this weeks challenge!  I can't wait to see what you create!

SSC #33 - Turkey Time!

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, November 15, 2009 3 stamps of approval

This weeks challenge at Stamptacular is to make any card or project that can be given or used at Thanksgiving time.  Aaaaaand... if you put a TURKEY on it, you'll get entered twice to win this fabulous prize!

Sponsor: Simon Says Stamp
http://www.simonsaysstamp.com

The prize is
plus FREE shipping!

The design team have, of course, created some amazing projects to inspire you!  And remember, if you don't have a turkey stamp, don't worry!  You don't have to use a turkey, you just get an extra entry if you do!

I didn't have a turkey stamp, so I went cruising the internet trying to find a digital stamp that I liked, and I did find quite a few... but then I went to the local Craft Warehouse and found this set by Unity.  I just couldn't pass it up!!  Not only was I looking for an excuse to get my first Unity stamp set,  I needed a turkey, and this set was just too cute!  Not to mention that I thought I could use his wings to make flowers, petals and stuff!  A multi-purpose stamp set is always a good thing, right?  So, here's my Turkey card!  I hope you like it!

I used the Build-a-Turkey stamp set by Unity, and Coffee ink pad by Brilliance.  I added some ink to the background with a spritzing tool, before sewing the piece to the card.  I layered the wings with popdots to add dimension, and used a bit of Stickles on his beak and waddle for some shine.

SSC #30 - For My Friend

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, November 01, 2009 2 stamps of approval

Our challenge at Stamptacular this week is to make a card for a friend.

Our sponsors are Our Very Own, Liza!  Who is offering up a Snowflake Cuttlebug folder, just in time to get you ready for your Holiday cards!

And my dear friend, Cassandra, of Doodle Street Designs!  Who is offering up a digital image of your choice from her shop!

I have used one of Cassandras awesome images on my card.  I love this little birdie!  This is what I think of when I think of a "Sprytebyrd", as this is the style of byrd I would be!

This card is going in the mail tomorrow, since it was made for my very special, bestest friend.... that's you, Kim!  :)  I hope that she loves this card as much as I do!  It's her job to find the rest of the words that I have hidden in my puzzle!  I found a puzzle making website, and created this wordfind just for her!  It's full of words to describe what a wonderful person she is.  After much arguing with my computer/printer over getting the sizing on the puzzle and the image correct, I was able to piece the card together.  I've also created my own background paper using a wheel stamp and shimmery silver ink.

I hope to see you join us at Stamptacular this week!  I just know you have a wonderful, amazing, sweet, kind, creative friend that you can make a card for, too!

Doodle Street Sketch

I play on doodle street blinkie
Hiya!
I had a little free time this afternoon while Boo napped and Em played in the playroom... so I whipped up a little card!
This is for the challenge over at my good friend, Cassandra's blog - Doodle Street! If you haven't visited this challenge blog, you must go take a look! They have wonderful challenges! And the Doodle Street designs are awesome! I don't have any designs yet, but I am hoping to get some real soon!
I know that they allow any image to be used in their challenge and since I needed a birthday card for my Aunt, I chose one of my Beautiful Day Fairies from Paper Make-Up stamps. This is Birthday Lauren, isn't she the sweetest? I always love to add glitter and sparkle to my fairies, and this is no exception. I stamped her with my Brilliance ink pad and colored her in with my Sakura glitter pens and a few of my Copics. The cardstock and patterned paper is from an "unnamed source" in my stash. The sentiment is a rub-on that was floating around.
Hope you like my card... and I hope my Aunt likes it, too! :)

CGW 2009 Beach Projects

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Friday, October 16, 2009 4 stamps of approval
Hi there! CGW (Crafty Girlz Weekend) 2009 is all done... so sad! It was a blast!

I've got some time this afternoon, so I can finally upload some photos and share with you some of what we did!
Enjoy!

I'll start with my project: This is a Tri-Fold Shutter Card with the Fan Fold Flower. Directions and Tutorials from Splitcoast Stampers. This was my sample.
And this is the one that I made during the weekend. Everyone's cards were different colors, as I took an assortment of patterned paper and cardstock to use. They were all so pretty! We also discovered that the flower could be turned into a fan, which was fun!Charlene taught us how to make these adorable bottlecap magnets! Surprising how pretty a bottlecap can be!Louise shared this cute teabag flowerpot. So easy to do, and so much fun!
Paulette brought some fun felt and felting tools and we each made these adorable purses! I think I've found a new craft - this was so much fun! Here are all of our purses:This is one that I made for Emily:And this is mine:Liz had some wheat sent over from Germany and taught us how to do wheat weaved stars. I pasted mine onto a card front.Kim taught us how to make the Handmade soaps that she had given away at her wedding in August. Her wedding soaps were blue, I chose green and the pink one was one that Mom had made for Emily.Lynda brought some styrofoam ornaments and taught us how to created a faux-quilted christmas ornament. We each got to a small and a large ornament.I know there is one project missing.... I am saving the project that Cauleen (my Mommy) brought, as it is for my Stamptacular Sunday Challenge Blog Design Team post this Sunday. So check back on Sunday to see it!

Here we all are! In the back: Cauleen, Charlene, Lynda, Paulette, Louise, Liz & In the front: Me and my Bestest Friend, Kim!
It was a wonderful weekend! And I can't wait for CGW 2010, we already have the beach house reserved!
