The FIRST Saturated Canary Challenge!

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Thursday, September 29, 2011 14 stamps of approval
I've been waiting for today!!  For the first ever Saturated Canary challenge to post!  I have totally fallen in love with these images! They are so cute and so much fun to color!  My good friend, Carisa introduced them to me and I've already built up a pretty good library of images!

The first challenge is s sketch with the option of using a Halloween theme.  Since I just LOVE making Halloween cards, I had to go with the theme as well!

I moved my ribbon up a bit from the sketch, but you can definitely see the sketch in there.

Stamptacular Sunday #131

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, September 25, 2011 3 stamps of approval
New challenge day at Stamptacular Sunday!!

This week our theme is

Have a Latte Day! - yup, put something coffee-ish on your card, simple, right?  RIGHT!

I know it's pretty simple for me, because I have SO many wonderful stamps and images from Fresh Brewed Designs that showcase my love of coffee so well!

This week I've used, "I'll take mine to go" from FBD and the coffee ring is a stamp that I found in a bin at a recent rubber stamp convention.

Enjoy!

Sentimental Sundays #74

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Saturday, September 24, 2011 3 stamps of approval
It's time to step out of your comfort zone at Sentimental Sundays!

This challenge was SO hard for me!  I decided to do something OTHER than a card, because I make cards all the time and that's what I'm comfortable with... I really struggle with anything else!  So, I made a luminaria using paper, vellum and die cut images.  Hubby loves it :)

I hope you can come join us and step out of your comfort zone this week!  It really is fun to try something new :)

Simple Single Layer

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 4 stamps of approval
Here's a simple card that I made the other day... just playing around with some inks and new stamps that I got.  I've seen this direct to paper background technique used a bit around the blogosphere and thought I'd give it a try.. seems pretty fun and funky, I might have to play around with it a bit more, but I like this card more and more as it sits on my desk waiting for approval!

The Secret Crafter is having a single layer challenge, so this one fits :)

Spooky Halloween

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Monday, September 19, 2011 7 stamps of approval
I'm working on a project for an upcoming crafting weekend and it involves burlap... lots of burlap... which means I have a lot of burlap scraps hanging around the house. (and if you've ever used burlap, you know it's really does get everywhere!)

So, I decided to use a little bit of burlap on my card today...

I had fun with this one, even though there are no colors, it was fun to put together!

Puncy CMM

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Friday, September 16, 2011 10 stamps of approval
We're getting PUNCHY at Card Makin' Mamas this week!

We're looking to see how you use punches on your cards and I might have gone just a little bit over the top on mine... but that's ok, because I love it!

I've used 1 inch and 3/4 inch circles to make the pumpkins, and I used a 1 inch circle for the moon.  I punched an owl and turned him upside down on his ears, chopped off his feet (wow, that sounds horrible!) and made him a ghost!  I even used my circle punches to help out with the stems on my pumpkins!  So cute!

So, come show us what you've got!

Hugs,
Dee

Meljens #76 - Paper Piercing

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Thursday, September 15, 2011 9 stamps of approval
It's beginning to look a lot like... Halloween!!  Yay!  I just love Halloween!!  All the fun colors and papers to use in cardmaking and the weather is cooling down and the awesome decorations!  I love it!!

This week our new releases at Meljen's Designs are spooky and Halloweeny!!  Yay!!  I can never have enough Halloween images!

And our challenge for you this week is to use Paper Piercing

For my card, I've used the new Witching Moon image and I've paper pierced along the top edge of the black paper with my Sew Easy tool and around the scallop circle with a basic piercing tool.

Pretty cute, eh?  I like how it turned out!

I've got another cool Halloween card to show you, but.. you'll have to come back tomorrow and check it out!

See you tomorrow!

Go Huskies!

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Monday, September 12, 2011 1 stamps of approval
I can't believe I forgot to post this card!!

Our challenge at Meljen's Designs this week is

All Things Sporty

and we have some fun new images to play with, too!

I've used Little Football Boy and I've decked him out in the U of W colors purple and gold.  I could probably get in trouble for using Husky colors, when I live in Cougar (Washington University) country... but I spent many, many years in the Seattle area and the first sports colors that pop to mind are purple and gold.  So... if you're a Cougar fan - I'm sorry!!  :)

Come join us in our Sporty challenge, maybe you'll score some free images or a Top 5 badge!

10 Years

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, September 11, 2011 0 stamps of approval
September 11, 2001...

I vividly remember what I was doing 10 years ago.  I remember the shock when I first turned on the TV.  I remember the fear as I watched the towers fall.  I remember the stunned silence that fell across our land.  I remember the pride I felt for the Americans who fought back on Flight 93.  I remember the tears as The Pentagon was hit.  I will never forget.  Though I didn't personally know anyone who was lost or injured in the attacks that day, every life that was taken has hit hard and every life lost will be missed.  Please take a moment today to remember.  Look up at our flags flying proudly over us today and pray.  Thank our soldiers and protectors who are there for us every day.  Be grateful for every day and be proud to be an American.
I will NOT forget.

Ooooh... New Images!

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, September 04, 2011 13 stamps of approval
While doing my regular blog hop visiting friends, I swung by sweet Carisa's place to see what she's been up to... she had created an amazing card (no surprise there) with an adorable new image!  Of course, me being the shopaholic that I am, I just had to go and get me some of these cuties so I could color them up and have some fun, too!

These new images are by Krista Smith of Saturated Canary Digis and she has just opened up her Etsy shop with some fabulous images!!

I only got a few to start with (well... ok, 5!) and I just knew that Jynx here would be the first one I colored!

I was inspired by the sketch happening over at Paper Sundaes for the card layout,

Sentimental Sundays #71

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, September 04, 2011 2 stamps of approval
The new Sentimental Sundays challenge this week is "Sympathy" or "Thinking of You"

Sympathy cards are hard for me to make, and when I, unfortunately, need one, I can't come up with anything.  I always think that my style is too "cutesy" to be appropriate.  So, I decided to make a sympathy card, in the hopes that I never need it.  Thanks to Raindrop Echo, I had the perfect sentiment to go along with my image from Meljen's Designs.

Come join our challenge this week - and don't forget to visit the rest of the Sentimental DT, as well.

Thanks for stopping by!

Anywhoooo... Card Makin' Mamas is challenging you to use a digital image on your cards!

We're sponsored by Some Odd Girl, and I've used one of their new images, Bookish Tia on my back to school card

I loved this notebook paper embossing folder that I found at the lobby of hobby during a recent visit and I thought it would be perfect with this image and cute apple paper.

Hope you like my card - be sure to check out the rest of the design team to see their digital images this week, too!
