Mermaid ATC's

So, my Mom has been making ATC's lately (Artist Trading Cards) and has kinda gotten me into making them too, although, I have a lot of catching up to do!!  She's made so many by now and I think I've done... 8?  Hahaha!  I guess since I got her into cardmaking and scrapbooking to begin with, it's only fair that she get me into something new, too, right?

Well, she and I are looking forward to going to the Heirloom Rubber Stamp Expo in Portland, Oregon next weekend and they have an ATC contest and swap!  This year's contest theme is Mystical Mermaids, so I decided to make up a set of ATC's to enter into the contest - wish me luck!!  I am also making a few ATC's to take with me to swap, but I don't know how many I'll end up having.. it's still such a small canvas for me to get used to working on!

Here are my Mystical Mermaids - using the Mermaid digi from Karen's Doodles

I kept them very similar, to make them more of a set, but of course, not identical.  I also needed them to reflect my style of "art", so I kept them simple, but they had to have shimmer, glitter, sparkle and pearls!  I really like how they turned out!

Some ATC's are wild, some are simple... some are odd, some are cute... some are colorful, some are monochromatic... it all depends on the artist that creates them and their style of art.  I think these show off my style pretty well.  Simple, colorful, cute and sparkley!

It's BUTTONS time at Karen's Doodles!

This is such a fun challenge, I used to use buttons a lot, but they seem to have fallen to the bottom of my embellishment stash, so I never use them anymore!

For this card, I wanted to do something a little different with my buttons, so I cut out Emma's heart and laid out the buttons behind it to make a background.  I really like how it turned out!

Karen's Doodles #45 - Monochromatic

Here's a happy Monochromatic card for you for Karen's Doodles 45th challenge!

This image is one of Emily's favorites, and I love the sentiment!  Here's a little story behind it... My parent's went  to Hawaii this past summer and they sent Emily a postcard with a photo of a Mermaid on it.  Emily has always loved mermaids and once she saw that postcard, she told me, "Look Mommy, Mermaids DO exist!!"  So, now she tells everyone that Mermaids exist, because her Nana and Grandpa sent her a picture of one from Hawaii!  :o)

I've made a Christmas card using the Oh-So-Fun Christmas Moose image!  Now, I had to giggle while I was making this card, because I finished it up right after my hubby and I had finished hanging all the lights on the house!  And, so I was looking at this little moose, all tangled up in lights, thinking of my hubby.. all tangled up in lights!  Hehhehe!

Karen's Doodles New Challenge!

I've got a quick post for you today as I am heading out of town for the week to spend time with my parents for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Karen's Doodles - Make a Gift!

Hi there!

This weeks challenge at Karen's Doodles is to create a gift box of some sort!

I've made a simple but oh-so-cute popcorn box that I will definitely be making again!!  This was so easy and so fun!  Simple measurements around your bag of popcorn and you're set!

I used the Movie Date image and a cute ticket sentiment that I found as a freebie somewhere in the blogosphere.

Karen's Doodles Challenge #36

It's time for another fun challenge at Karen's Doodles!

This week, we challenge you to make a Christmas card using only Black and White!  Of course, you may use other colors on your image, but not anywhere else!!

This challenge is harder than it sounds!!  I really wanted to do a bright red ribbon and some red rhinestones... and I wanted to highlight the embossing by coloring some of those ornaments... but, I like this card, it really makes Bigsby stand out and the card really is all about him, isn't it?

Karen's Doodles #35 - Giving Thanks

Hello Monday!

There's a new challenge at Karen's Doodles today!

Our challenge for you this week is to Give Thanks!  This could be a Thanksgiving card, for those of us that celebrate Thanksgiving, or you could create a card showing something that you are thankful for.

I've created a card to send to a friend, as I am always so thankful for all the wonderful friends that I have in my life!  (I'm also thankful for my i-Rock, which is just awesome!  LOL!)  And, I'm thankful for Karen's Doodles as well, it's so easy to create with such fun images!

Also, we have an announcement regarding the Kids challenge blog.  With school back in swing and sports and other activities taking up so much of our little ones time, we have decided to put the Kids challenge blog on hiatus for the school year.  We welcome any kid creations to be posted along with adult creations on our challenge blog at any time!  The Kids Design Team will be back to inspire everyone in a few months.

Karen's Doodles Challenge

Good Morning!!

There's a fun new challenge going on over at Karen's Doodles and Karen's Doodle Kids today!

We're stressing about distressing!  Well, we're not really stressing... it's all fun!!  But it sounded good, right??  Maybe?

Ok, moving on!

Here's my distressed card (which was mildly stressing, as I was late and had zero mojo to work with......)

Such a cute image from Karen's Doodles - Apple Harvest, the apples are so much fun to color and I think I'm getting pretty good at shading blue jeans... at least I think so!  :o)  

For the distressing, I did some tearing and some crumpling and took some frustrations out on my paper and viola!  A distressed little card!

Karen's Doodles Challenge!

We're cooking up some fun at Karen's Doodles this week with a fantastic RECIPE!

All you have to do to play along is use:

  At least 3 Embellishments
  2 Patterned Papers
  and 1 Karen's Doodles Image

I've chosen to use the Oh-So-Cute Bigsby - Apple of my Eye and I created this gate fold card that ties closed with a ribbon (embellishment #1), I added a little red eyelet for the ribbon to go through (embellishment #2) and I've used some pretty red rhinestone corners for some sparkle (embellishment #3).

I can't wait to see what you create with our recipe!

What does Monday mean???  How about a new challenge at Karen's Doodles??  AND, a new challenge at Karen's Doodles KIDS, too!  Yay!!  It's a doubley fun Monday today!

Our challenges for you are to create a Halloween (or Fall) themed card!

Emily had so much fun with this theme that she actually made 2 cards!!  Please visit her blog to see them and leave her a comment, she really does LOVE to hear all the comments that are left for her!

For my card, I have used a non-Halloween image and just altered him up for my card!  This is one of the images from the Nutsy Fun set, which is 6 adorable images!  I used the Open Acorn image and sliced it just a tad so that I could squeeze the cute pumpkin sticker into it!  I also added more pumpkin stickers, so that it would seem like Nutsy was at the pumpkin patch picking out the perfect pumpkin!

I really think this is cute and I hope you like it too!

New Karen's Doodles Challenge

For my card, I used the image Bigsby Wreath - which just happens to have 7 ornaments - and I added an acrylic bauble to each ornament.  I've seen so many beautiful PINK Christmas cards this year, and I really wanted to try to make one myself and see if I could pull if off... what do you think?
