SSC #17 - Inside Out!

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, July 26, 2009 9 stamps of approval
Good Morning, friends!

Are you ready for another fun Stamptacular challenge? This week we would love to see you continue your beautiful card work to the INSIDE of your card!

Our incredibly talented Design Team have come up with some wonderful ideas! Adding recipes to cards, decorating inside tins, creating gift card pockets and more! Be sure to visit each of their blogs to see details on their projects! Line, Carly, Joanne, Kristin, Janneke, Liza, Jilly, Nikki, Paula and Priscilla!

For my card, I have created a VERY special birthday card! The recipient of this card should have received it by now (if I managed to get to the post office in time!) Yesterday was her birthday and I created this card just for her. So, Sweet Callie - I hope you had a WONDERFUL day and I really hope you like your card! Wish I could be there to give you a big birthday hug! I even added some goofy googley eyes to make Callie smile!
Cardstock and patterned paper are leftovers from a previous project.
Stamps: Owls from the Michael's Dollar Bin, sentiment from Stampin' Up!
Colored with Bic Markers
Oval and Scallop Oval Nestabilities
Flower from a swap, brad from my stash.

Recipe Card Swap

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 1 stamps of approval
Hiya! Just a quick note to share a little project I did today! I organized a small recipe card swap with some of my friends and the deadline came and went without me finishing my own recipe card! I struggled with this one and just couldn't come up with a design that I liked.. then.. it hit me! And, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I need to go check on my sewing machine and make sure that it has stopped smoking (just kidding - I don't think it's ever seen so much use!!) and to see if it forgives me for making it work so hard this afternoon! Anyway, here is my recipe card!

My watermark kind of covers it up, but I've always wanted to try this ribbon technique.. I guess it's called pleating, but it's looser, "sloppier" maybe? It was super fun and a lot easier than I had imagined, once I got the hang of it!

Thanks for stopping by!

My Craft Room (This one's for you, Joanne!)

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 6 stamps of approval
My fellow Design Team member, Joanne is giving away blog candy to celebrate her Blogoversary and 20,000 hits (WoW!) but... there's a catch! She wants to be nosey and see our crafty spaces! Be sure to visit her blog and enter to win her candy - I'd love to nose on over and see your crafty space, too! :)

So, here are pictures of my craft room - These are from a few months ago, when it was clean! Not much has changed.. a few dozen new stamps here and there, more stacks of paper, etc...! I'm sure some of you (my CafeMom friends!) have seen these photos, but I couldn't find a blog post, so this may be new to some of you.

I love my peg board! And my Ikea shadow boxes for all my loose stamps! I have an old cassette tape storage that holds all my ink pads perfectly! I have towel rods (also from Ikea) that hold all my punches neatly.

The color on this photo is bad (sorry!). Anywhoo.. In the corner I have a hand-me-down bookshelf that holds general stuff.. with an office paper storage on top (Sooooo happy when I found that at the goodwill store!!) that has all my Stampin' Up! paper nicely organized! I also have a tall, skinny bookcase hiding in the corner there, that holds my magazines, books, and some more paper. I've got a close up photo of the closet coming up, so I'll bypass that for now. The small wall is my "Brag Wall" These shelves are where I display the cards and projects that I have made and beautiful cards that I have recieved! These shelves are actually overflowing right now! Below that is a laundry cart that my Mom found at her goodwill store that holds bins full of asst stuff. My stickers and small embellishments. My Stampin' Around inks. Stuff like that. It now has bins to fill it up.

And the closet. This is where I have all of my Stampin' Up! stamp sets! They are organized basically by size of box! I have my word stamps separated into their own sections. I keep my Halloween stamps and accessories in orange totes and my Christmas stamps and accesories in red and green totes so that they are easy to find.
I have yet to find a good way to organize the sets other than by size. Any tips? Also, a new shadow box that my Mom just found for me that is perfect for my big stamps that used to live on the top of my smaller shadow boxes, but they were hard for me to reach up there! So, now they are here, and I really like it! Hiding in this picture is my sewing machine, but it has actually been pulled out and is on a table on the other side of the room, so that it can actually be used!

My in-laws painted the room for me and I am still thankful for it! It is exactly what I wanted! My Father-In-Law installed a light fixture in the closet and above the closet door. He also replaced the filtered light fixture in the center of the room with a "UFO Light" (as I call it!) It has 3 direct lights above my craft table, and 2 positional spot lights. The room is in the basement, and there is so much light that sometimes I never know when the sun has gone down!!

I LOVE my craft room! I'm so glad you stopped by for the tour! Feel free to come over and play sometime! :o)

Happy stamping!

2 Challenges

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 4 stamps of approval
Yay! I had some time to craft today... but I just wasn't feelin' too crafty. I managed to get this card done, but everything I started after this just wasn't "up to par", so I took the hint and left my craft room for the day! I'm ok with this card, it's nothing special, but it's not a bad effort! The sketch can be found as this weeks challenge at CPS-Card Sketches and the theme is this weeks challenge at The Corrosive Challenge Blog. So here's my "Doggie-Sketch" combining the 2 challenges:
Stamps - Canine Capers (retired) Stampin' Up!
Cardstock - Chocolate Chip & Very Vanilla - Stampin' Up!
Patterned/Textured paper - Daisy Bucket

Ribbon, Circle & Scallop punch - Stampin' Up!
Brads & Spacers from my stash
Colored with Copic Markers:
W1, R46, E00, E57

SSC #15 - A Sketch

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, July 12, 2009 5 stamps of approval
Hello!

Do you love a sketch? I love a sketch!! Stamptacular Sunday has a Fantabulous sketch for you this week! The work is done for you! Fill in the sketch and you're done! So what are you waiting for? Go visit the design team to see what we've done for you, then show us what you create using the sketch! We LOVE to see your take on our challenges!
This week, we have an amazing prize offered up by Papirloftet! All I can say about these products is "WoW!" As most of us were unfamiliar with them, they sent each of us an AWESOME package full of fun stuff to use! Flowers, brads, charms, paper, ribbon.. oh my gosh, so much stuff I can't even list! The texture, the quality... WoW! Trust me, you WANT to win this weeks challenge!! Each member of the design team has used Papirloftet products to create their samples and each sample is so different, so be sure to check them all out! Line, Carly, Joanne, Kristin, Janneke, Liza, Joey, Jilly, Nikki, Paula and Priscilla!

My card, as mentioned, uses only Papirloftet products and our sketch for this week. That's it.. pretty simple! I decided on a gate-fold for my card and I really love how it turned out! Although, I've been told by my insiders (Mom and Hubby) that this is SO not my style, they both still love this card! I hope you do, too!

Thanks for stopping by! Now, go... show me your take on our sketch!

My First Custom Order!

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, July 05, 2009 5 stamps of approval
I am so excited that I got a custom order for invitations!

A friend is hosting a bachlorette party and asked me to create some cute invites for her, so I did!  I hope that she likes them!  She said that she wanted over the top, fun invitations and that the colors were black, silver and hot pink.
I borrowed the corset die (Cuttlebug) from Sweet Callie, added some silver eyelets, silver cording, rhinestones and silver ribbon for dimension and shine.  I added Creamy Caramel circles for the boobies and placed the completed corset onto a Swiss Dotted Pink Passion panel, which was placed on a Basic Black card.  Inside, I used a Sizzix die to cut out
the Let's Party from silver paper, stamped the invite info and rolled the dots along the bottom.

I also made a coordinating box to present them in, using the same corset and colors.  I think it makes a nice presentation, and she can use the box for a small gift, or just as a keepsake.

So, if you ever need custom invitations or custom cards - just call me!  :)

Stamps, eyelets, silver cord and all cardstock is from Stampin' Up!  Corset die and Swiss Dots embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  Let's Party die by Sizzix.  Ribbon from Walmart.  Rhinestones from Michael's.

SSC #14 - Christmas in July

Designed by Sprytebyrd on Sunday, July 05, 2009 7 stamps of approval
Welcome to another fun challenge week at Stamptacular Sundays! I always say it's never too soon to start on Christmas projects.. and every year, I say I'm going to start my cards early... and every year, I start planning and creating.... around.... well.... November? :) This year I'll try to do better! Hopefully our challenge this week will help me (and you, too!) get my Christmas Mojo going to get started on some Christmas cards so that I don't have to rush at the end of the year! Well, we'll see....

If the design team has wowed you with their projects throughout the year so far.. just wait until you see what they have to share with you this week! I have seen some Stamptacular creations from the girls this week! Go, give them a visit and leave them some love!

Here's my project for you to ooh and aah over! I've created a bread box to gift a lovely loaf of bread to... someone? Iain will have to eat the bread for now, as I'm sure it won't keep until Christmas, but I'll make more, I promise!I found this tutorial for the bread box on the Scor-Pal website (have I mentioned how much I love my Scor-Pal?) This was so simple and fun, I think I may make up a bunch of these this year! The hardest part was actually dragging myself into the kitchen to make the quickie-bread! In this case it is Cranberry Quickie-Bread, and oh so yummy!

I can't wait to see what you create for Christmas in July! Be sure to join us this week! We have a wonderful prize being offered up by.... Grab-A-Doodle-Do! Who doesn't need more digi-sets?

This box uses Stampin' Up! cardstock, My Mind's Eye patterned paper, Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder, Scallop Oval and Classic Oval Nesties, ribbon and twine from my stash, stamps by Stampin' Up! and Eyelet Border Punch by Stampin' Up!

Thanks for stopping by!
