Sentimental Sundays

I'm so excited for my first Design Team post with Sentimental Sundays!  And what an awesome theme we have for you this week!

"Inspired By A Song" (with a sentiment, of course!)

Those who know me well, know that I am a big Brad Paisley fan.  I love his style and I love it when he puts his great sense of humor into his songs.  He can do such a dreamy love song, of course, but the songs I love the most are the ones that make me giggle, or even laugh out loud!  Just this week, I downloaded his newest album "This is Country Music" and gave it a listen while making dinner.  I love the title track, it's amazing!  And there's a song called "Camouflage" that is just hilarious!  This one, though, is so cute and I just love it!  It's called "Working on a Tan" and as I listened to it for the first time, I started thinking of this image by Meljen's Designs and how I could do a sponged sun above her, along with a new Copic technique that I've been wanting to try on the sand.  So this card just came together pretty easily!  I hope you like it as much as I do!  I don't think I'll be mailing it out, I think it will probably go on display in my craft room :)

We've got some adorable new beach images this week that are a perfect fit for this theme!

I've chosen to use Pirate Johnny - Hubby and I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides this past weekend, and I'm a huge Johnny Depp fan - he makes the best pirate ever!!  So, since I still have visions of Johnny dancing in my head, I thought I'd put him on a card!  Good thing Melissa gave us this adorable new pirate image to play with this week!

Meljen's Designs Challenge #60

Hi Everyone!  I hope that all my family, friends and fellow bloggers are safe from the storms hitting our beautiful country this week!  Please, be safe and take care!

Our 60th challenge at Meljen's Designs is

KRAFT plus ONE (other color)

We will of course allow you to use white for your image base, but I have decided to stick to Kraft and Blue

This was one of those "work with what you have" cards!  I ran downstairs to my craft room to grab my Kraft paper and some colored paper, a bit of twine and my adhesive.  Then I ran back upstairs to supervise the crazies.. er.. I mean kids!  :)  I kept the card simple, without coloring the image, just a bit of paper piecing on Pappa's tie.  I grabbed my daughters bag of adhesive foam hearts and stuck a few on (she let me!  She doesn't like blue hearts....)

Meljen's Challenge #59

Oh No!  I'm late, I'm late!  For a very important date!!!

How could I possibly forget to post my card for the new Meljen's release and challenge???  Sheesh.. slipping, I'm really slipping!

Ok, so we've got a super sweet release and a super fun challenge, so before I squeeze anymore "supers" into this post, I should show you my card.... 

I made a cute little bottle cap magnet to go on the front of my card and I really love how it turned out!  There is a magnet under the papers, so that the bottle cap will stick to it for presentation, then there is a magnet on the bottle cap as well, so that the recipient can display it on their fridge :)

"CASE"-ing my friend Lisa!

This was a fun card to make - I love pirates and this paper is one of my favorites (unfortunately, I'm almost out!)  I dug out a stamp set that I haven't used in forever and that's always fun, too!  But, most importantly, I recently got a new sewing machine and I finally got it threaded and did some stitching!  It's uneven, and a little funky, but that's ok with me.. pirates are uneven and a little funky, too!!

Just a little Bicycle....

Oh, I can't even tell you how long I've had this stamp... I think it was one of the first ones I ever purchased, and boy, that was a LONG time ago!!   For at least the past 4 years, it has just been decoration on my wall!  I have all of my individual wood mounted stamps displayed in shadow boxes on my craft room wall.... It sure was nice to grab this one and ink it up again!

I was inspired by the challenge at Little Red Wagon this week, which is all about Bicycles!  I immediately thought of this stamp!

New Challenge at Meljen's Designs!

Hi All!!

Time for a new challenge at Meljen's Designs!

This week we would like to see your Business Size (no, not Business CARD size, Business SIZED Card! Hehe)  That would be your LONG or TALL cards, the ones that fit in the business envelopes - let's just say 9 1/2 x 4 inches.. roughly... I think mine is actually 9 x 4 1/2 inches... you get the drift, right??

Ok... all that said, here's my card!

Cute, no?  Such a cute little Beardy Gnome!!  He's brand new and you can buy him right now in the Meljen's Corner at Whimsy Stamps!  I was browsing through Hobby Lobby the other day and found this paper.  I thought it would be so cute with this little guy, so I grabbed it up!  Also found the sentiment stamp on clearance, yay!
