I've used Firefighter Honey provided to me by Sassy Studio - she was so much fun to color! And I have old paper, old lace and some really, really old letter stickers! I think I've had these letters since I started scrapbooking and card making over 10 years ago! I had never even opened the package until today! But, I thought they worked pretty well with the paper and image!

A fun sentiment for this card, I think!

This is a card that I made for our "Something New" challenge at Card Makin' Mamas!

My "Something New" is this adorable image that I bought last week from Saturated Canary, Ellie's Birthday

She's just a cutie! I used some metallic colored pencils that I've had forever because I wanted a softer, sketchier look to her and I think it goes well with the soft purple paper and ribbon. A little sparkle to glam it up just a bit and I've got a great card for my "birthday box" that I hope to add to throughout the year. I don't know about you, but I never seem to have a birthday card handy when I need one, so I am hoping to make an assortment of birthday cards and keep them together in a box so that I can easily find one when I need it!

In case you didn't know, Meljen's Designs has an assortment of pre-colored images in the shop! These images are just perfect for quick cards or gifts and they are just oh-so-cute!

I needed a few more last-minute Christmas cards last week, so I printed up a bunch of the images and I was able to make all 7 of these cards in less than an hour! Since my images were all pre-colored, once I had a layout in mine, these just seemed to put themselves together!

I'm dreaming of a PINK Christmas! There are a lot of non-traditional card colors emerging this holiday season and the Stamptacular team wants you to really use your imagination and only use the color PINK!

I've made a small set of 3x3 gift cards to go on plates of cookies that we will deliver to the neighbors this weekend. As Hubby was writing out the greetings on the inside of my cards, he said "These are nice, but they're just a bit... pink?" Well, at least he said they were nice! :)

These are cute little shaker boxes with mica flakes and a touch of pink glitter. I really think they're just adorable! I added a scrap of pink dotted ribbon, with a pearl and the snowflake embossing finishes it all off.

I've made a small set of gift tags that will be going to our neighbors with some baked yummies. To get GLITZY, I used glittery paper and a bunch of rhinestones, and of course, I sparkled them each up with my glitter pens! It's so hard to capture the glittery in a photo :( But, they look so pretty in person!

How honored am I to have been asked to celebrate along with my dear friend, Lizzie this week in her very special Happy Birthday blog hop!!

I must give Lizzie cudo's for masterminding a blog hop in HER OWN honor! I just think that's awesome, and, my dear Lizzie, is the queen of awesome!

I'm a card maker... I do bake, and I've been knitting, and I've played around with a sewing machine.. but, really, when it comes down to it, I make cards. It's what I love and it's what I do. This is a really fun card to make, and my fave tool the i-Rock got a workout putting all those red and black glam rocks on!

I've used a Pre-Colored image from Meljen's Designs and framed it with a raised embossed mat. I added a few i-rock gems to the wreath for some shine.

I stamped the sentiment and attached it with a bit of a "bow" to give it some dimension. I also traced around a few of the embossed circles with a glitter pen to give it a bit of sparkle.

If you haven't noticed by my blog lately, I LOVE Halloween cards! I tend to make way more than I need to send out every year, so my collection keeps growing and growing! It really is my favorite card season, I love all the creepy images and spooky sentiments! And, don't get me started on the colors!! Orange and Black have always been fantastic, but whoever decided to toss in Green and Purple deserves a Medal!! LOVE!

Ok, on to my card! I love this one! I'm surprised that I managed to not post it for so long, as I made it a few weeks ago for this challenge!

Halloween Wreath

Hiya!

I wanted to share with you a wreath that I made for our front door for Halloween today!

Recently, my Mom, daughter and I joined a group of girlfriends for a weekend at the beach. Each of us brought a craft project to teach during the weekend, and this was what I taught.

I found the idea for this fun wreath at Pinterest (I'm a PROUD Pinterest addict!) and I adapted it just a little bit to fit my style.

The original just had letters that spelled out "BOO", but I used a big fancy bow and fun wooden halloween decorations instead.

I used a simple 13" wreath from the $1 store and spray painted it black before tying on the burlap strips.

We had 2 little girls (age 6 & 7) with us at the beach, so I brought 2 smaller 9" wreaths for them. This is the one that my Emily made for her bedroom door.

As you can see, I had different types of ribbon for everyone to choose from, and different decorations, too! Emily loved the skeleton! The glittery spiders were lots of fun, too and I decided to add one to my ribbon after I took my picture.

I used to make a lot of wreaths and I think I'll get back into that hobby. I would love to have a new wreath to display for each holiday. I already have an idea for a Thanksgiving wreath that I am hoping to work on this weekend...

Emily and I made these for a place setting at our recent crafting retreat at the beach. They were so much fun to make and she had a lot of fun helping me out with them!

Our new challenge at Stamptacular Sunday is SOOOOO Distressing!

I'm quite distressed... as I don't do much distressing on my cards, but this was fun!

I opted for a tall card, as my witchy (you've seen a lot of her, haven't you?) is rather tall and she took up too much space on a standard size card, but I love her anyway!

I scraped up the edges of the image, sponged some ink all over the place and added some shredded burlap scrap... I also love the zig zag ribbon that I added at the last minute!

I needed to make a quick card for a 6 year old's birthday party this past weekend. He likes cars, so I grabbed an old favorite Meljen's image and the first scrap of patterned paper that I could find! I colored up the image to match the paper, embossed some cardstock, added some brads and viola! Instant birthday card! Birthday boy wasn't at all interested in the card, but Mom was sure impressed! LOL!

The FIRST Saturated Canary Challenge!

We're getting PUNCHY at Card Makin' Mamas this week!

We're looking to see how you use punches on your cards and I might have gone just a little bit over the top on mine... but that's ok, because I love it!

I've used 1 inch and 3/4 inch circles to make the pumpkins, and I used a 1 inch circle for the moon. I punched an owl and turned him upside down on his ears, chopped off his feet (wow, that sounds horrible!) and made him a ghost! I even used my circle punches to help out with the stems on my pumpkins! So cute!

It's beginning to look a lot like... Halloween!! Yay! I just love Halloween!! All the fun colors and papers to use in cardmaking and the weather is cooling down and the awesome decorations! I love it!!

For my card, I've used the new Witching Moon image and I've paper pierced along the top edge of the black paper with my Sew Easy tool and around the scallop circle with a basic piercing tool.

10 Years

September 11, 2001...

I vividly remember what I was doing 10 years ago. I remember the shock when I first turned on the TV. I remember the fear as I watched the towers fall. I remember the stunned silence that fell across our land. I remember the pride I felt for the Americans who fought back on Flight 93. I remember the tears as The Pentagon was hit. I will never forget. Though I didn't personally know anyone who was lost or injured in the attacks that day, every life that was taken has hit hard and every life lost will be missed. Please take a moment today to remember. Look up at our flags flying proudly over us today and pray. Thank our soldiers and protectors who are there for us every day. Be grateful for every day and be proud to be an American.

I will NOT forget.

We're Blasting to the PAST at Meljen's Designs this week! Showcasing some of our favorite Meljen's Designs images from when we first discovered the amazing artwork of Melissa Jenkins!

I am excited to share with you my FIRST ever Meljen's card using "Little Girl Bear Hugs"

I remember this card well! I made 2 of these right after we brought our daughter home from her appendix surgery and sent one of them off to the staff in pediatrics at the hospital and another one to the surgeon who performed her surgery. I was so impressed with how well everyone took care of her and how she barely even noticed what was going on. While she had all of the nurses wrapped around her little finger, her Daddy and I were on pins and needles and exhausted! I spent the nights in the hospital with her, but couldn't sleep, so I colored images and blog hopped and left comments all over the blogosphere! Seeing everyone's beautiful happy cards really cheered me up and was such a big help to me during those hours spent listening to her sleep! So, this Thank You also goes out to everyone out there who shares their cards online!

Now, I'd also like to share one of my very Favorite cards! Using one of my favorite images, "Espresso Yourself"! I just LOVE coffee and everything coffee related and this image is just perfect for me! I also have a very wonderful friend who loves coffee as much as I do and her birthday was last month. I had held onto this little tag for a long long time, and finally ended up passing it on to my friend for her birthday. She loves it and has it displayed in her kitchen, so I can visit it every time I stop by!

Princess Necklaces

Hi there! Another "Non-Papercraft" post today!

I found these SUPER CUTE tiny little bottle caps at the Lobby of Hobby the other day and thought it would be really cute to make a necklace set for Emily. They were so small, though, that I really had to do some looking to find pictures small enough to put in them! Emily wanted princesses, so we found some stickers, cut out the heads with a circle punch (now Emily has 6 headless princess stickers to play with! LOL!!) and stuck the stickers into the bottle caps. We ran a bead of Dazzling Diamond Stickles around the edge of the sticker and let that dry... overnight.

This is so hard on poor Emily, who is such an instant gratification kind of gal!!

The next day, when the Stickles were dry, we filled each little bottle cap with that Crystal Laquer/Glossy Glaze stuff and again, set them aside to dry... overnight.

Emily's about in hysterics by this point!! I guess it's a good thing we didn't do one bottle cap at a time!

Finally, the charms are ALL DONE! At the same time I bought the bottle caps, I picked up a simple chain for her to wear them on, so I grabbed that and told Emily that her necklace was ready!

Here is the finished product! Emily loves it! She loves being able to change out the charms and has already worn Sleeping Beauty and Ariel!

I'll have to go pick up another pack of bottle caps and keep an eye out for more tiny pictures to put in them! My Mom suggested pictures of the family, I think that's a good idea, too!

I'm So Excited!!

So, we've been spending a lot of time at the movie theater this summer! With the free summer movie program that our theater offers, as well as all the new movies that came out this summer, it's been a busy popcorn eating couple of months!

Every time we went to the theater, I would look up and see hanging from the ceiling this amazing Cars 2 vinyl banner. It looked pretty big... and I thought, "Wow, wouldn't that look cool on a wall in the kids playroom?" So, I asked the manager what they do with those things when they take them down, and she said they give them away. Well, I just had to ask how I would get my hands on that one! She said to keep checking back and ask when they would stop showing Cars 2, because that is when they would take the banner down. So, I asked.. and asked.. and asked again.. and asked some more. Every time I was there, I would ask. Which was almost every week. Finally, when I went late one night to see The Help, I asked again. I think I was starting to become quite the pest, but my Dad always said, the squeeky wheel gets the grease, right, Dad? So, the manager said that they would be taking the banner down that night and that I could come pick it up the next morning! OH MY GOSH! I barely slept that night! LOL! So, the next morning, I wandered into the theater and asked, yet again.. noticing that it was no longer hanging from the ceiling, and the manager came out carrying this GIGANTIC bundle! Seriously, the thing is HUGE! I took his word that it was the right banner, I wasn't about to open it up there, and tossed it in my trunk. When I got home, hubby was just flabergasted! He thought I was talking about one of the paper movie posters or a cardboard standee... but this... well, this was over-the-top amazing!

So, we immediately took it downstairs to the playroom, grabbed the staple gun and went to work! It was too big for ANY of the walls down there, even though the room is bigger than my first apartment! But, we finally decided that it could wrap around a corner and still look good. I wasn't about to cut the darn thing! It covers from floor to ceiling, too! Seriously, HUGE!

So, long story.. but here are the pictures!

According to collider.com, it was created by a team of 20-25 people, features 415 posed characters and took about 5 months to create! It is double sided, but we liked this side best.

He couldn't take his eyes off of it!

Here's Little Man's face when he first walked into the room!

Emily didn't like it at first and didn't want to be in the photos, but she has finally decided that it is pretty cool!

So, if you were wondering, THAT'S how you decorate an awesome playroom for the kids for FREE! Ask your theater, it's better than tossing it in a dumpster, right?

It's one of those little touches that adds so much detail and elegance, and I always seem to forget about it! So, this week at Meljen's Designs, we are challenging you to add some black! This is one of those cards that really just built itself... the paper just seemed to "fall" out of my scrap pile and his eyeglass(es) just begged to be colored in orange.. the sentiment jumped out at me - all just perfect! And, I love it! As an added bonus - I made 4 cards that day, showed them all to Hubby and he picked this one as his favorite!

I loved this image set from TLC when I first saw it and I am so excited that I finally got a chance to use it!

No More Than 2 Layers!

Trust me, it's harder than it sounds!! LOL!

I decided that the easiest way for me to do this, was to create a single layer card! This isn't something that I do very often, but I always seem to like how they turn out!

I used "Cheer Girl" from our new release

Her uniform is actually colored light purple, but for some reason, that isn't showing up in the photo! That's ok, though, the purple ribbon gives you a hint of what color I used :)

For this weeks challenge you will create a card or project that includes both STARS and STRIPES! Can be any colors you choose but must be able to see stars and stripes! Oh…and don’t forget to stamp! After all, we don’t call this STAMPtacular for nothing!

The stripes on my Gorjuss Girl image inspired me for todays card! I found this fun striped paper in my patterned paper pile and loved the colors, so I colored her tights to match! Add in some coordinating star paper and a bit of star embossing with some striped twine and you've got Stars & Stripes!

I bet you thought I'd use Red, White and Blue for this challenge, didn't you? Well, I wanted to!! But I also wanted to show you that you can use any colors and any theme this week - just as long as you have both Stars & Stripes!
